Work Summary
Game Designer / Sound Designer / UX Designer:
I took several different designer roles for this project. The premise of the project was a turn-based monster battler with extremely wacky, gimmicky, and potentially unbalanced combat for a very casual experience. I let my mind run wild with ideas and slowly trimmed out the fat to make true characters worthy of battle
What Worked:
-
Created character archetypes, stats, and move sets for all miscreants
-
Drew UX layouts for menus and Battle UI
-
Created and outsourced sound effects and music
What Could Be Improved:
-
Miscreants could have more fantasy inspiration for better move potential and a richer world
-
Other sound effects like monster-specific battle cries and attack-specific sounds would help with immersion
-
If time wasn't a factor, we could have used the original UX layouts
Gameplay Demonstration
Original UX Layouts
It was setup as a fighter select screen for simplified pickings of Miscreants
The battle screen would have fit attack descriptions and stats all within the box below the action
This was a screen where you could select a Miscreant and completely see their archetype. Sadly it was scrapped
